In Tangier during the Spanish Civil War and the beginning of WWII, Juanita, a young girl of English and Andalousian origin, tries to survive in a family full of contradiction. Her mother is very attached to Catholicism whereas her father, of English descent, tends to be more tolerant. She is very critical towards her sister, who fully refuses soumission and towards her friend Esther, who fell in love with a young Moroccan Muslim. The movie tells the story of Juanita, living a lonely life, nostalgic of an evolutive past, as well as it shows Tangier, a city changing on political, cultural and social aspects.
