The "Nanas Benz" Beauty Pageant in Benin is inspiring a new generation of African women, much like Zimbabwe's own "Biggie Matofotofo" Pageant. During the 2004 "Nanas Benz" competition in Cotonou, several young hopefuls talked to the filmmaker about their preoccupations, their personal relationships, family and professional lives. In loving their plus size bodies, they set a new ideal of an "average" size and speak boldly, with confidence and humour, about contemporary issues that affect them each day.
