Born in 1980, Joris Lachaise now lives between Paris and Marseille. In 1999, he met Jean Rouch. After an MA in philosophy, he began a Master degree in the field of investigative documentary. Along with his work related to an anthropology of death, and another one questioning the political status of ethnographic collections at the Musée de l`Homme, he became a cameraman and film editor. He initially worked with Jean-Pierre Krief and Arte on a film about the Iraqi Special Tribunal. He then produced video pieces based on sound compositions, which were presented in Paris, Nantes, Cahors, Marseille, and Lisbon. His most recent work, with Thomas Roussillon, resulted in a feature film documentary on the struggle of Sudanese asylum seekers in Angers. That same year he co-founded the association Marseille BabelXIII dedicated to the production and dissemination of multimedia documentary works.
