Believing in its role in empowering filmmakers and creating platforms for discussion and networking, "Aflamuna" - previously known as Beirut DC - is organizing the first edition of "Aflamuna Convention" which will take place over 3 days in Beirut, with the participation of more than 80 filmmakers, cultural professionals, and activists from the Arab region and the world.

"Aflamuna Convention" is considered a key platform where filmmakers, cultural professionals, activists, and all those invested in this sector meet to build partnerships with the aim of developing the independent film industry, creating social impact, and ensuring the safety and security of all workers in the film sector in the Arab region.

During the convention, participants will explore the power of film as a catalyst for social and environmental change, and innovative approaches to alternative distribution channels and platforms that can support the dissemination and impact of independent films through discussions and workshops. The convention will also address issues related to the quality of life for those working in the film industry, examining the physical and digital risks they face, as well as protecting freedom of expression and the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive environment for their living and work.

"Aflamuna Convention" will also serve as an opportunity to announce the establishment of the "Al-Awna" alliance for Arab cinema organizations and introduce its goals.

"Aflamuna" is the new name for the Beirut DC Association, established in 1999 and based in Beirut. It has launched several programs, activities, and events aimed at supporting independent Arab cinema.
