French journalist.
French journalist in the daily "Le Monde" from 1970 to 2006, Thérèse-Marie DEFFONTAINES attended FESPACO for the first time in 1983. This first contact made her discover a cinematography largely unknown in France. Quickly her desire for knowledge and sharing popped up and went beyond cinema to embrace theatre, literature, photography, dance, visual arts, which she approached by attending as often as possible events bringing together creators and artists in Africa. These include Rencontres internationales de la photographie africaine in Bamako, Récréatrales in Ouagadougou, Dak'Art, Etonnants Voyageurs (Mali), Emergence Festival of Niamey, etc., while remaining closer to cinema and FESPACO. Evidence of this are her critiques and chronicles in "Le Monde", "Le Monde diplomatique", "Cultures Sud", the youth magazine "Calao" and, more recently, the magazine "Mouvement". In 2019, she is Member of the Feature film jury at 26th FESPACO, Ouaga, Burkina Faso.
